Hans-Joachim Stuck and Derek Bell finish second in a Porsche 962 C, 2m 14.44s behind the winning Lancia LC2 driven by mauro Baldi, Bob Wollek and Riccardo Patrese. Stefan Bellof crashed at Eau Rouge whilst battling with Jackie Ick’s works Porsche 962 on lap 78. The Brun Porsche caught fire and Bellof was pronounced dead of massive internal injuries after he had reached the track hospital.
