Bob Wollek & Hans Heyer 2nd in a Porsche 935, 1.18s behind the winning BMW 3.5 CSL driven by John Fitzpatrick and Tom Walkinshaw. Porsche win GT class.
Overall - 2nd, 3rd : Gr.5 - 2nd, 3rd : GT - 1st, 2nd Unfortunately, jackie Ickx only got to Becketts on the opening lap before the clutch friction plate disintegrated. He tried to repair the car out on the circuit with advice from the mechanics but it was eventually decided the drivers should push 002 back to the pits. The pit crew then struggled to remove the gearbox and fit a new clutch. The car eventually resumed just before the two hour mark.
