1983 - Le Mans 24 Hours
19 June 1983 - Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France
Vern Schuppan, Al Holbert and Hurley Haywood win in Porsche 956
Clean sweep 1st to 8th overall : Group C - 1st, 2nd, 3rd : Group B - 1st, 2nd, 3rd If there were a record for the slowest Le Mans finish, Al Holbert has a claim. In 1983 he, Hurley Haywood and Vern Schuppan were treated as the Porsche factory juniors, but consistency put them in front when others hit trouble. Holbert was at the wheel when the engine failed on the last lap, but he managed to limp to victory at about 20 mph. (Motorsport Magazine - June 2019)
