1968 - Targa Florio
5 May 1968 - Piccolo Circuito delle Madonie, Italy
Vic Elford & Umberto Maglioli win in a Porsche 907
Overall - 1st : P3.0 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd : S5.0 - 1st, 3rd : GT2.0 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd The opening lap was a disaster for Elford, he had to stop to tighten a loose wheel, which worked loose again forcing him off the road. With the help of spectators it was lifted back on the road, a space saver wheel was fitted and driven back to the pits, but was now 16 minutes behind the lead Alfa. Vic put in a manic drive, taking the lead on lap 9 and pulling out nearly a 3 minute lead on the last lap, during his second stint at the wheel.
